In a series of tweets, 17-year-old Joshua Rush, who plays Cyrus Goodman in the series, recently shut down a troll who accused the series of setting a “very poor example” by introducing queer characters. And the show’s inclusive ethos goes even beyond the screen, with its actors also speaking out against homophobia IRL. Since Andi Mack premiered back in 2017, the series has become a beacon for LGBTQ+ representation - featuring the first coming out story ever in a Disney Channel series and even winning the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Kids and Family Programming in 2018.
